Celebrate Groundhog Day Here on Long Island

Will he or won't he? That is the question on everyone's minds as Groundhog Day, February 2nd, approaches. Traditionally when the groundhog sticks his head out of his hole, if he sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of Winter, but if he doesn't, that means Spring isn't quite as far away as we think! Here on Long Island, we've got a few of our own Groundhogs - Holtsville Hal (pictured right), and Malverne Mel, who are eager to rise to the occasion, and let us know if there's

Whether the Groundhog sees his shadow or not though, you can be sure that there are plenty of fun family-friendly events going on across the Island to celebrate Groundhog Day!

In Holtsville we've got Hal, in Malverne we've got Mel, and out on Staten Island they've got Chuck! With all these groundhogs predicting whether or not winter weather will continue on for 6 more weeks or end early this year, surely one of them is bound to be right!

Who do you think will make the correct prediction this year? Let us know!
